Es liegen gute 300 km dazwischen, aber die Nachrichten sind doch hier in Helsinki auch present...Die Fahne hängen hier alle auf Halbmast und bei dem Sportfest der Metropolia (meine Uni) im Olympiastadium gab es heute eine Ansprache (leider nur in Finnisch) und eine Schweigeminute.
Mir war vor dieser Tragödie nicht bewußt, wie mit den Thema "Waffenbesitz" in Finnland umgegangen wird. Die ersten 3 Wochen haben mir auch nicht das Gefühl vermittelt, als wenn in diesem Land eine solch große Waffendichte besteht. Und auch jetzt würde ich nicht sagen, dass ich ein ungutes Gefühl habe, mich in diesem Land zu bewegen.
Die Menschen und die Stadt die ich bisher kennen gelernt habe, vermittelt mir ein freundliches, hilfsbereites und ausgeglichenes Bild. Ich möchte in diesen Blog auch die Worte der E-Mail meines Rektor hinzufügen, welche ich heute bekommen habe:


Dear Metropolia Students
We have faced a tragedy, which concerns us all. There has been a
shooting at Kauhajoki vocational school that, to present knowledge,
started in the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences premises. At
least 11 people, the suspected shooter included, were killed.
This Kauhajoki shooting incident is shocking and deeply affects us all.
In this kind of moment of grief we need each other and each other’s
support. That is especially important for students, whose peers were
victims of the shooting.

At the moment, there is no reason to assume that the safety of
